Introduced in 1967,
the Belvedere GTX was a mid-sized muscle car produced by the
Plymouth division of Chrysler. On the outside the GTX featured
simulated hood scoops, a blacked out grille and a racing style pit
stop gas cap. On the inside were bucket seats, 150 mph speedometer,
front and rear seat belts. Options included a center console, a
electric tachometer and more. Under the hood the GTX included the
440 Super Commando engine and a beefed-up 727 TorqueFlite automatic
transmission or an optional four-speed manual transmission.
Buyers looking for
more muscle could also add the legendary 426 HEMI. The suspension
featured heavy duty torsion bars, oversized anti-sway bars and heavy
duty leaf springs. The GTX was produced as a separate model until
1971, it became an option package on the 1972 - 1974 Plymouth Road
Runner. For more on the Plymouth GTX visit our
